Biliary diseases

These conditions are associated with sudden onset pain located under the right costal arch (that may radiate to the right scapula), nausea, vomiting and perhaps with fever. Such diseases can be the following: inflammation of the gallbladder (acute cholecystitis), obstruction that prevent normal bile flow (gallstone, gallbladder cancer), bile leakage or even bile reflux.

The biliary scintigraphy with provocation can be used to examine possible obstructions of the gallbladder and biliary ducts, to examine functional disorders of gallbladder and to assess contractions of the gallbladder.
